Teens: Watch the clock

— School is out and so are the young people. Police have picked up four teens this week past curfew.

“Parents and young people need to be aware of the curfew,” Police Chief Tim Ledbetter said.

“Curfew is designed for their safety.”

The city curfew is that children under 16 may not be out from 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday or 10:30 p.m.

to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday and for children under 18 from 10:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday or 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Exemptions are when young people are accompanied by a parent or guardian or are sent on urgent business and have written permission from their parent.

All young people found out on city streets past curfew are subject to citations which can lead to time for parents to be in court and possible fines.
