Library Notes: Summer story hour is Thursday

— This past week was so busy that people were standing in line to return/ check-out books. Those times are hectic, but I love that so many of you are using the library.

Several people have stopped to get information on the Thursday Story Hour and the Summer Reading Program. Details for each of these programs are posted on the library door. We are expecting a good turn-out for both activities.

The best part of my job as librarian is meeting and visiting with the patrons.

Several patrons I had not previously met stopped by this week. It is nice to get acquainted with them and learn what they like to read.

Any book dealing with the Ozarks is very popular now, as are military and war books. Westerns arealways popular with the guys. One of our readers of Westerns has donated some of his books; we really appreciate getting these on the shelves.

Several science fiction and fantasy books have been donated. If there are certain authors you would like to read, let me know and I will try to get them.

For all who have been asking, I was able to obtain a copy of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Just be prepared to get on a waiting list!

We are working to get current books for the tweens and teens. We have purchased some new releases for them, as well as a few new chapter booksfor grades three through five. “Shark Wars 1 and 2” will be on the shelves this week, as will “Redwall 1 and 2.” For the kids who like baseball, “Fenway Foul-up (Ballpark Mysteries)” will be available this week. These and several other new books should make good reading for the Summer Reading Program.

Don’t forget the Story Hour starts at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday. Bring the children in for an hour of stories and crafts.

The Board has decided that we will continue the Quilt Raffle through the time of the Pea Ridge Fair in July. The drawing will be held Tuesday, July 10, at the library. You do not need to be present to win. Be sure you stop in and get your tickets.

Congratulations to Derry and Sharon Camp on their 50th wedding anniversary.

We stopped by the celebration on Sunday afternoon for punch and cake.

The Library Board and I want to express our appreciation to the community for support of the library.

We are grateful for those of you who have donated time, books, money and support. And we appreciate that you choose to get your reading materials from the Pea Ridge Community Library.

See you at the library!
