Valentine’s books ready to read

The cold weather seemed to be the reason many of the regular library patrons stayed away last week. I missed you all and look forward to seeing you this week. The library was blessed with a hard working volunteer this week.

The children’s room got some much needed attention.

I am excited over a donation of eight boxes of children’s books. I have not completed a count but I can tell you there are some very good books. I did a quick search through the boxes and pulled out books relating to Valentine’s Day. These have been processed and are on the shelf.

Children’s books were not the only donations left at the door last week. I never turn down a donation and I’m like a child at Christmas as I sort through the boxes. I was very happy to find a couple of books on sign language for children.

The Library Board will be meeting soon to discuss what we want in the new library, as well as hours of operation, etc. We want your input so drop by and give us your thoughts.

I paid a visit to The Friendly Book Store, on Saturday, Jan. 14, and purchased some large print books. A stop at Barnes and Noble provided some new Christian fiction books. In a quest to complete some sets that are missing one or two books, I am doing some Internet shopping. An individual who dropped off a large donation of books last week said he had a collection of Westerns that he was considering donating to the library. I certainly hope so, Westerns are popular.

Last week I wrote about an opportunity for Pea Ridge to win national recognition, as well as some funds for the library. If you have not had an opportunity to log on to www.ReadersDigest.

com/America and vote for Pea Ridge, please try to doso soon. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can vote - I voted several times last week. So the next time you’re on your computer, please take a few minutes to vote.

If the weatherman is correct, we should have some unseasonably warm weather by the end of this week.

Hope you get a chance to get out and take advantage of it. You can always come by the library and dust a few shelves, shelf a few books or just checkout a few books for when the weather changes, as we know it will!
