Raising $ for cheerleaders’ state rings

— Earning first place in state competition is a memorable experience and Blackhawk cheer head coach Jamie Bunting wants her cheer squad to have rings to commemorate the event.

To that end, the Blackhawk varsity cheerleaders, who recently won first place in 4A co-ed state competition, are asking the community, faculty, friends and family to help them raise the money for state rings.

The cheerleaders were congratulated by School Board members and superintendent Roland Smith at the regular meeting Monday night.

“I’m extremely proud of our cheerleaders and all their hard work, ” Rick Neal, high school principal, said. “The are very dedicated, very passionate, a very successful group and it’s good for our school.”

Two fundraisers now scheduled are:

◊A semi-formal and formal dress sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in the cafeteria at the Pea Ridge High School. Dress donations are being taken for the sale to raise money for the high school cheerleaders. The dresses have been worn and are in good condition.

This sale will be a good opportunity to find a great deal just before the Junior-Senior Prom and the Middle School Semiformal. Donation tax deduction forms are provided to anyone who donates. For information, contact Kim Laster at 903-2566 or Jaime Green at 531-4028.

◊A chili lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cafeteria at Pea Ridge Middle School sponsored by the Pea Ridge Optimist Club and parents of cheerleaders. Tickets are $5 and includes a bowl of chili, crackers, dessert and drink. For tickets or information, contact one of the high school cheerleaders or coach Bunting at the high school.
