Artist is a finalist

— Pea Ridge fifth-grader Leanza Norris was one of 12 finalists for the Artsonia National Art Student of the Week. While she didn’t win the top position, which was arrived by nationwide online voting, Miss Norris did receive several hundred votes for a drawing of an arrangement of flowers.

She will receive a certificate later for being a finalist.

Norris is the ninth Pea Ridge elementary student to be included as a top 12 finalist in the weekly competition.

Over 6,000 schools are apart of the Artsonia online art network.

The online art gallery for Pea Ridge students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade can be visited at www.artsonia.com/pearidge2. Over 50,000 pieces of student art is located on the site which has been in existence for three years.

Each Pea Ridge studenthas a portfolio of his/her art that will be available for viewing indefinitely.

More than 235,000 visitors have viewed the web site which is the most visited site in the state. The site won the distinction last year as the best site in Arkansas as well as being honored as the 12th best in the United States.
