Sign OKd

— A new electronic sign to be erected in front of Pea Ridge High School, was approved by the Pea Ridge Planning Commission at the regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 7.

The sign was donated by Arvest Bank.

High School principal Rick Neal said the message on the sign will be controlled digitally through his office. He said there will be no blinking lights or messages.

Planner M.J. Hensley, an engineer, recommended the concrete be reevaluated for a structural concrete. “There’s no stress if the wind doesn’t blow,” he quipped, adding that the plans call for a lighterweight concrete than structural concrete.

Dr. Roland Smith, school superintendent, said: “We’re grateful. This is a community school district.”

The planners will next meet at 1:30 Thursday, March 1, to discuss the master street plan.
