The School Board filing deadline passed and the tallied up results had shown that four contests were underway in the county. In Pea Ridge, the five-year term held by Jewel Pendergraft, Seligman, Mo., was being sought by three candidates: Mrs. Cecilia Green, Jim Schumacher and L.C. Barnett, Jr.

George McBryde, a Pea Ridge High School sophomore, was presented a trophy for outstanding novice boxer at the Rogers Invitational Boxing Match. The 156 lb.-middle weight boxer won his match at the meet also. His coach was Don Strickland of Pea Ridge.

Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1982 Pea Ridge Country Times

James and Sandra Shrum and children Lori, Christina, Becky, Kathy, Jenny and Ruth, worked together to make a happylooking snowman in front of their home on Henry Little Circle. They didn’t give him a name, but he looked happy in the cold weather.

Following the presentation of information on the status of cable television for the Lost Bridge area, the members of the Lost Bridge Men’s Association took on as a project, the gathering and provision of information to Southern Cablecom to assist in bringing the cable to the residents of the area.

Seven fires were reported in Pea Ridge Country in one week’s time, despite the cold, wet weather. The most serious fire was one thatdestroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Ferguson, south of Avoca. Avoca and Little Flock Volunteer Fire Departments responded, but the men were unable to stop the fire from destroying the trailer and the house built onto it.

Thursday, Feb. 6, 1992 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

An Ozark Transit bus was destroyed by fire on its way to pick up senior citizens in the Pea Ridge and Garfield areas. The fire occurred about two miles west of Pea Ridge on Arkansas Highway 72.

The only occupant was driver, Zannie Morrison of Garfield, when the fireoccurred. He was not injured. Gasoline was determined to have started the fire.

Pea Ridge High School junior Diana Davis, daughter of Denny and Peggie Davis of Pea Ridge, was selected the 1992 Colors Queen at a home basketball game against Greenland.

The No. 1 top video rental was “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

The top five sellers in the fall PTO Eagle fund raiser at Pea Ridge Elementary School, alongwith the winner of a drawing from the top 25 sellers, Hannah Eoff, were treated to a limousine ride to CC’s Pizza in Rogers.

Other students that won were: Kelsie Boyd, Katelynn Nunley, Dominic Robertson, Jacob Huett, Caitlen Stellpflug and Dustin Thomas. Principal Kimberly Glass joined them.

Sarah Whitted was crowned 2002 Pea Ridge Colors Day Queen. She is the daughter of Erbie and Donna Whitted. Her activities included basketball, softball and cross country. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Church of the Nazarene.
