Seligman dance slated

SELIGMAN, Mo. - Seligman community dance will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb.

2, at at the Seligman community building. Band will be Frosty Garland and the Road Hogs. Admission is $4 per adult. There will also be a Valentine dance on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Proceeds go to helping the needy with eye glasses and hearing aids.

The Lions Club is accepting donations of used eye glasses, hearing aids and used cell phones which can be dropped off at Seligman Auto Parts store, Seligman City Hall, People’s Community Bank or Freedom Bank, in Seligman. For information, call 417-846-5355.

Cassville dance set

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Cassville Senior Center will host a dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the senior center. The Roaring River Sounds Band will play, there is a $4 cover charge and finger foods are welcome.

Artists featured

DIAMOND, Mo. - A 60-minute documentary about artists of the Harlem Renaissance will be shown at 1 p.m. Feb. 4 and 5. The documentary includes more than 130 rarely seen paintings, prints, photographs and sculptures by black artists and archival footage of those artists’ work.

The park is located two miles west of Diamond, Mo., on Missouri Hwy. V, then 1/4 mile south on Carver Road.

Sweetheart dance scheduled

SHELL KNOB, Mo. - The Shell Knob Lion’s Club will kick off the 2012 dance season from 7-10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Shell Knob Community Building. Doors open at 6 p.m. with concessions available. Music will be provided by Evelyn Lock and The Outriders.

Lecture focus on making of atlas

SPRINGDALE - “The Making of the Atlas of Arkansas,” will be featured at noon Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History by Dr. Tom Paradise, professor of geography, cartography, and Middle East studies at the University of Arkansas, and author of “Arkansas: An Illustrated Atlas.” The Shiloh Museum is located at the corner of Johnson and Main in downtown Springdale.
