Little Flock City Council voted to sell the city-owned McClure property to Dale Webster for $90,000.

Problems resulting from Garfield’s operation of the water system continued to occupy the mayor, council members and citizens. Dennis and Daryl Boles, Lost Bridge blueberry farm, asked to be heard at the council meeting. Dennis entered a strong complaint about not being informed when the water was to be shut off and stated that when it was shut off without them knowing, it cost them five days labor and ruined their pump.

A former alderman was the first to file a petition to run for the Pea Ridge City Council. Filing his position was Joe Hart, who served on the council in 1989 and 1990, but lost in his bid to unseat Mayor Mary Rogers in 1990.

Pea Ridge postal carriers collected an estimated 700 pounds of food for the Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance.

George Harris and Ginny Kraus were elected president and co-president of the 55-and-Over Club. Hellen Edwards was named programs coordinator.

Valerie E. Hook, daughter of Leamon W. Hook of Pea Ridge, enlisted in the U.S. Army’s Delayed Entry Program and reported for active duty.

10 Years Ago Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002 The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

School began in the Pea Ridge School District with approximately 100 new students, five new teachers and one new superintendent.

The resignation of Two-Ton’s plant manager was requested at the monthly meeting of the Benton-Washington Regional Public Water Authority. The authority’s board of directors, after returning from an executive session, asked for the resignation of plant manager, Earl Betts.
