First day went well

— Enrollment increased for the first day of school, said Pea Ridge school superintendent Rick Neal, but numbers will continue to change. There were about 1,700 students in the fourcampuses Monday.

“It went really well,” Neal said of the first day, adding that teachers and staff were well prepared.

There were some traffic and transportation issues, but Neal said he thought everything went really well for a first day andhe anticipates it working more smoothly as the week goes on.

For his first opening day as superintendent, Neal admitted he missed being principal of the high school (a position he held for the last several years), when he had closer interaction with the students.
