Library Notes: well rewarded

— Hope all of you reading this got some rain and had no damage from the winds that came through Saturday night. So nice to have cooler temperatures!

The Pizza Hut in Pea Ridge was the setting Saturday morning for the Summer Reading Program party. I had hoped we could have our party and pizzas in the park but it was just too hot.

Prizes were awarded to the winners and “goody bags” were given to all participants. A complete story and photos appear elsewhere in today’s paper thanks to John McGee. Thanks to all the participants and their parents/grandparents who made sure they visited the library for their books.

Good job kids and I hope to see you in 2013!

Thanks also to the Pizza Hut for allowing us to hold our celebration there. The pizzas were great!

Doesn’t seem possible that school will be starting shortly. The Summer Story Hour will continue each Wednesday and Thursday for two more weeks. We will take a break until after Labor Day. If we have a reader and enough children participating, we would like to have a story hour each Wednesday Morning from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Contact the library if you want to bring your children.

All of July I kept talking about how busy we were in the library. After I did the month-end report last Thursday I was surprised to see that just over 700 books had been checked out. That must be a record month for the library. I’d like to see that number continue to grow.

This week we will have some new kids and teen books ready for checkout.

“Hide and Seek” ( book No.

4 in the Lying Game Series), “The Last Guardian” by Artemis Fowl, “Perfect Time For Pandas” (Magic Tree House book No. 48), two “Dragonbreath” books - “Dragonbreath and Attack of the Ninja Frogs” and“Wimpy Kid Movie Diary” are a few of the titles. For all the Dean Koontz fans we have his latest “Odd Apocalypse” - the fifth book in his Odd Thomas Series.

Thank you all for your continued support of your library.
