Council seats up for grabs

— Many seats are available on city councils in northeast Benton County for the general election set for Tuesday, Nov. 6. The deadline to file is Aug. 17.

Two City Council positions are up for re-election in Pea Ridge and as of Tuesday, no one had filed for the positions, currently held by Ray Easley and Steve Guthrie.

Sandy Button filed for election for city clerk/treasurer. She has been recorder/treasurer for many years. This year, when the city became a first-class city, the title was changed to city clerk/treasurer.

In Garfield, two aldermen have filed for election, but four seats remain available.

In Gateway, there are five positions up for re-election and three persons have filed.

In Avoca, three people have filed for seats, five seats are up for election.

In Little Flock, Linda Usery has filed for recorder/treasurer and four people have filed for three of the six open positions.
