Library Notes: New library progressing nicely

— I just returned from a trip to St. Louis and a birthday party for my now 2-year old granddaughter. I was able to spend some time with my granddaughter and her 5-year old brother.

Also, I spent some time holding my 4-month old grandson. What a fun time but, my, how tired I am!

It was a cool 75 degrees for the outdoor movie time for Saturday night’s party and the rain didn’t start until after midnight. It was nice to wake up Sunday morning and see rain falling. I wish I could have brought it home with me.

On my way home I stopped by the new library to see the progress that was made on Saturday. I am excited to report that the framing has been completed for the fireplace and the flat screen television set. The Library Board members and I are grateful to Tony Townsend, Gary Brown and his crew for all their hard work.

Last week I received a very large donation of Christian fiction hardback books in like new condition. I am hopeful that these will be ready for check out by the time you read this.

While I was still celebrating this good fortune, I received a phone call from a lady who will be donating a collection of paperback Westerns. These are always a welcome addition to thelibrary. We will work hard to get these on the shelves quickly.

A big “thank you” to those of you who made cash donations. Your support of the Pea Ridge Community Library is appreciated.

Be sure to see next week’s column for the names of the winners in the Summer Reading Program.

See you at the library!
