Ball players face hard road

— “Our seniors - they’re four good kids,” head baseball coach John King said, lauding the ball players. “They’re our leaders of the team. Most have been with us three or four years.”

The Blackhawks lost to PrairieGrove Monday evening making their record 9-2.

“We’re fixing to hit a rough stretch,” King said Monday before the game. “Prairie Grove is second in the state behind Shiloh.”

King said having the multipurpose facility has helped a lot as the players have been able topractice batting in the four cages there.

“They have all improved,” King said of his players. “So far, this year has gone very good.

The next five games will be hard.”

“If we make the regionals, we may make it to state. This is a very tough conference - it’s thetoughest conference in the state,” King said.

Starters are Dusty Morgan, Austin Easterling, Isaac Mangrum, Blake Roughton, Evan Tillman, Kolby Schooley (who is sidelined with a knee injury), Ryan Roughton, Ethan Higgins, Austin Wichert, Logan Wichert and Nick Hardy.
