Neal honored at reception

— Nearly 100 people stopped over a two-hour period Tuesday, March 27, at Pea Ridge High School, to congratulate Rick Neal on his new position as superintendent.

Mayor Jackie Crabtree and School Board president Joshua Ramsey each praised Neal and the process used to select him, which involved cooperative effort by both school employees and community members.

“We’re extremely pleased with his plans for this district and the futureof the school and community. I think he’s the best person for the job,” Ramsey said.

Four of the five school board members attended, as did many community members. Board member Rick Webb was absent.

Dr. Roland Smith, interim superintendent, asked each board member to speak. Neal is scheduled to take the helm July 1, and until that time, is working closely with Smith preparing for the transition.
