Spooktacular coming to a library near you

— Witches, goblins and ghouls, get ready for some Halloween fun at this year’s Spooktacular carnival.

Treats, games and crafts await little fingers - whether they are in costume or not.

The Spooktacular is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Bella Vista Library, 11 Dickens Place, off Arkansas 340 east of Town Center.

The event will be slightly more elaborate this year.

“We anticipate doing a little bit more decorating and a few more crafts this year,” Library Director Joni Stine said.

The event is sponsored by the library and the Bella Vista Property Owners Association. This is the fifth year of the event, POA Recreation Manager Clem Morgan said.

POA lifeguards andkids’ camp counselors are helping with the games along with Ace Rouse, Branchwood Recreation Center manager.

The event is always well attended, both organizers said.

Morgan said the event is for awareness of the facility and to get families to the library.

Some of the adults like to join in the fun and get dressed up; Morgan is among them. Last year, he dressed like the Cat in the Hat, and two of his workers were Thing One and Thing Two. He hasn’t decided what to do this year yet, but it will most likely relate to a bookcharacter.

“There are lots of prizes, everything is free and I encourage everyone to come,” Morgan said.

“It’s a joint effort,” Stine said. “We had a few more of our volunteers involved last year and even some coming in costume. They had fun, too.”
