’Til Next Time

What would you do differently?

One of my favorite columnists wrote a list of things he would do over if he had a chance. I scanned it, like a lot of my reading. Then I backed up and reread the article and then read it word by word, breaking it down to find out what he was saying. He was sticking to general things but a few days later, still with that column in mind, I started my own list of things that I would do differently if I had a chance.

He had stuck to things like peace on earth. The longer I wrote, the longer and more personal it got and after three pages and rereading it, I tore it up. But, I’m glad I took that trip down memory lane. In his sermon Sunday, the Rev. Timmons used the phrase, “Have you ever felt like you were an empty shell?”

That thought got stuck and rattled around up there until I had to quit listening to him and decide what it was about. I remembered a couple of years ago after being deathly sick how I felt exactly like an empty shell. If you see or feel like anyone is feeling that way, reach out to them, today!

And yes, then I went back to listening.

My chuckle for this week (and I’m so grateful to the clerk for giving it to me) - I was looking at dog houses. The clerk said, as he walked by, “Are you needing a dog house?” I said, “Yes, there are three dogs and only two dog houses.” Without changing his pace, or expression, he uttered the word “bunk beds,” and passed right on by. It took a second for me to realizewhat he had said and I had my first good laugh of the day, and several chuckles after.

The Rev. Shiable and his wife, Judy, were guests at Brightwater Sunday. The congregation from the Centerton Methodist Church were in our prayers.

Betty Weston’s brother, Sammie Williams, passed away last week and will be buried at Pratt beside his mother and sister.
