Quilting ‘shop hop’ interrupted by wreck

— They found Linda L. Griffin on the passenger’s side of the vehicle and stayed with her.

Tanya Dumond, of Rogers, was northbound on Arkansas Highway 94 when she saw the SUV miss the curve and travel across the roadway, into the grass, down into a ditch and fly above a driveway, then land. She got out to offer assistance and stayed with the driver until ambulance personnel arrived.

“I was taking my son to a birthday party,” she said. “She crossed in front of me.”

Visibly shaken, Dumond said she had not seen, nor been involved in, an accident before.

Griffin, 49, of Bella Vista, was taken by Pea Ridge Ambulance to Northwest Medical Center.

Pea Ridge police officer John

“I’ve seen lots of wrecks here,” Daisha Foster said Saturday morning as she stood in the drizzling rain waiting for state police to arrive to investigate a one-vehicle accident.

Daisha, a graduate of Pea Ridge High School, lives just north of the intersection and was in Country House Quilting quilt shop when she heard, then saw, the wreck.

Daisha’s grandmother, Charlotte Foster, owner of the quilt shop was hosting a “shop hop” at the shop. There were many ladies in the shop, many of whom gathered at the door to see what had happened.

Daisha and her mother, Julie Foster, ran out to check on the occupant of the GMC Jimmy.

Langham arrived on the scene moments before fire and medical emergency personnel.

Mike McAllister, who lives just north of the intersection, said there are wrecks at that turn often.

“I’ve seen a lot of wrecks here,” he said.

Julie Foster, who was inside the quilt shop, said Griffin gave her two prescription bottles and asked her to keep them. Griffin was also concerned about asmall kitten she had in the vehicle.

The medications had prescription labels taped over the original labels.

State trooper Marty Pollock said the incident is still under investigation.
