Moore is recovering

Despite her personal pain, teacher Marcia Moore was worried about her young students.

“I’m recovering and I’ll be back to work soon,” Moore said Tuesday morning from her hospital room. Moore, a secondgrade teacher at Pea Ridge Primary School, was concerned about her students and wanted them to know she was going to be fine.

“I’m missing them,” she said.

Moore, 54, of Rogers, was injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on Arkansas Highway 279 in Bella Vista.

Moore was southbound in a 1997 Geo Prism about1:46 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle left the roadway to the right, overcorrected and crossed the center line hitting a northbound 2007 Ford Focus driven by Michael Leimkuhler, 49, of Bella Vista, according to the Bella Vista Police report. Moore was taken to Mercy Medical Center by Bella Vista Ambulance. Leimkuhler was not transported.

Police Chief Ken Farmer said it was raining Saturday and, according to the report, it appeared Moore hydroplaned. She was cited for careless and prohibitive driving, he said.

Moore said she is being fitted for a brace as she has fractures to her vertebrae.

“I’m just grateful to be alive and breathing,” she said.
