Cookbook signing for Florence Poe well attended

— There were many exciting things happening at the library last week. There were lots of visitors - some inquiring about library cards, others using the computer and many checking out books. We even had a couple of people offere to volunteer at the new building. Thank you very much.

Work is moving along really well at the new location. We will soon begin to remove the interior walls.

Yeah! We are in hope this work will be completed in time for us to hold our book sale in the building on Oct. 8, Mule Jump Saturday.

Thank you, Robert, and volunteers.

Book donations are still coming in and we are very appreciative. There is a large selection of magazines and books - hardback and paperback - for sale in the library. I sold a surprisingnumber of books and magazines this past week. I think you will be pleased with the number and variety of books available for sale. We have several old Western paperbacks in addition to general fiction, children’s, etc. If any of you have any extra bags, we could sure use them at the book sale.

On Saturday, the library hosted a cookbook signing by Mrs. Florence Poe of Garfield. Her children and grandchildren made “goodies” using recipes from her cookbook. They were delicious! She was kept busy signing her books. She is a very sweet lady and I feel honored to have spent a fewhours with her. Stop by the library and take a look at the cookbook she donated.

Thanks to the Poe family for their donation to the library.

The city-wide garage sale must have been a success judging from the number of cars in town. Everyone coming in the library commented on the traffic and the wait at the restaurants.

After the book-signing, I managed to visit a few sales and found a few things I just couldn’t live without.

Story hour will resume at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Ms. Heather. I really missed seeing (and hearing) the kids this past week. Hope Ms. Heather had a great vacation. She does an outstanding with the children.

Lots of new books havebeen purchased including James Patterson’s “Kill Me If You Can,” “The Help” by Kathryn Stockett, some new Christian fiction, and for the young readers “The Power of Six” by Pittacus Lore.

If any of you find that you need something to do, give me a call at the library, 451-8442. I can always use assistance shelving books, dusting shelves, etc. The library is a fun place to spend an hour or two.

Be thankful this week for the freedom and privileges we have in this country and for those individuals who fight to preserve them.

See you at the library!
