Let’s go see the circus

Few things make a woman crankier than having to change to a new purse. Mine had spent a lot of time on the floor board of the pickup and on bleachers at ball games.

There had to be certain sized pockets on the outside and divisions inside.

Telephones, glass cases, car keys, check books, etc. All need set places. The ones I’d looked at are $30 to $40.

I found one at a thrift store for $3 and decided to risk it. I wouldn’t get rid of the old one for awhile, just in case.

It has worked out perfectly and rides on my shoulder just right. How great some things turn out. Luck or coincidence? Not for me to say, but with any luck it will be six months before it happens again. Remember, a woman looking for a new purse resembles a snarling Rottwieler.

The circus is coming to town. These small town circuses had a big influence on my childhood because my dad was fascinated and then enthused my husband about them! They are about to be crowded out because of economics and traditions. So go and enjoy it, for what it is. They won’t be around much longer.

I’m thrilled to say congratulations to J. and Wilma Hensley on their 50th anniversary.

This community mourns the death of Dale Roney.

He was a great story teller and historian. He told me a year ago that he thought sometimes the medicinewas worse than the disease. And the last couple of months I’ve had to believe that.

It just doesn’t feel right to watch a football game in 100-degree weather.

Forecasters tell us it will cool off soon. My old hens will be relieved. I only have five left of laying age and haven’t gathered but one egg every other day.

I hope you don’t think the Rogers tax extension doesn’t have an effect on us. The world has become a small place and everyday we use their streets, their parks and our grandchildren will benefit. It’s no longer a case of “take care of your own.” As our lives are spread over a much bigger area now.
