City-wide yard sale

The Pea Ridge city-wide Yard Sale is 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Ridge Rockers second annual open house

The Ridge Rockers second annual open house is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept.

13, at the Pea Ridge Intermediate School cafeteria.

There will be a free spaghetti supper and a brief introduction to Modern Square Dance. Lessons are forming and will start the following Tuesday night.

Fall clean-up

The annual fall clean-up is scheduled for 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 13-16, and 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

Dumpsters will be located at the city property behind the former Pea Ridge Flea Market. All participants need to bring proof of identification and proof of city residency (i.e. current paidwater bill).

The following items will be accepted for disposal:

◊Furniture, stoves, dishwashers, bicycles, compressed gas cylinders, car batteries, fire extinguishers, washers and dryers, leaves and brush, air conditioners and refrigerators (if freon has been removed by certified technician), compressors (accepted as separate items), fluorescent bulbs, cleaners (water based), paints, chemicals, oil, oil filters, car tires (four per household), anti-freeze, aerosols, flammable liquids and solids, pesticides, etc.

The following will not be accepted for disposal:

◊Household trash, construction material, anything containing freon or items too large to fit in the dumpster.

There will be a maximum of three trips per household.

Brush needs to be checked at location stated above and taken to the Fire Department substation. Items should be separated into three categories, metal, refuse and brush.

Culpepper Merriweather Circus

The Culpepper & Meriweather Circus will have two show at 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 15. on the Pea Ridge High School campus, sponsored by Pea Ridge Optimist and Pea Ridge Lions clubs. Advance ticket sales are on sale at several locations including: Arvest Bank, Community First Bank, Webb’s Feed and Seed, The Times office, BlackHawk Grill, AOK Insurance Office, Collier’s Drug Store and The Wright Stop in Garfield. Advance tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children. Tickets on the day of the show are $12 and $7.

Seniors Dance

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Due to the Labor Day weekend, the Cassville Senior Citizens Dance will be postponed until Saturday, Sept. 17. The dance is from 7-10 p.m. and the charge is $4 at the door. The Roaring River Sounds Band will be playing for your enjoyment.

This a benefit for our Senior Center and goes to help with the Meals on Wheels Program. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

The next dance will be the third Saturday in October, more information to follow.

Mini Hot Rod pull

SELIGMAN, Mo. - Mini Hot Rod Pull 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Ruby’s Event Park. Featuring Booger County Mini Hot Rod Pullers Association.

Their rules apply. Get your souped-up lawn mowers and ATVs ready and attend this fun event. Hook fees are $6 if a member and $8 for nonmember. Sign-in by 6:30 p.m. Admission for adults $7, children 6-12 $3 and under 6 is free. Concessions available, no alcoholic beverages allowed. Bring your lawn chair. This event has added the Jet Powered Lawn Mower division.

Cave Springs’ Days

CAVE SPRINGS - Starting at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, the city of Cave Springs will be hosting Cave Springs’ Days. The theme is Home Sweet Home. There will be a chicken dinner with all the fixings and musical entertainment from 5-8:30 p.m.

Also, Saturday, Oct. 1 there will be several more things happening, including:

◊6-10 a.m. FirEman’s Breakfast

◊8 a.m. 5K run

◊11 a.m. Parade

◊School reunion

◊Arts and Crafts

◊Car Show, featuring a car for the Susan G. Komen Foudation

◊Golf tournament

◊ Dog show, and much, much more. Fun for the whole family. There will be food available for lunch and music will be provided for Saturday evening.

Fall train ride planned

SELIGMAN, Mo. - The fall train ride from Seligman to Van Buren, Ark., will be Sunday, Oct. 9. Arkansas and Missouri Railroad and Seligman Chamber of Commerce have this trip twice a year.

It will be Arts and Crafts days in Van Buren. This is an all day fun trip. The train will leave Seligman about 7 a.m. and arrive in Van Buren about 11 a.m. It will return to Seligman, Mo., about 6:30 p.m. Snacks will be served.

The train will travel though the Boston Mountains, cross rivers, cross three high trestles and go though Winslow tunnel.

Passengers will spend about three hours in Van Buren.

Tickets are $80, first class and caboose, $72 for senior 65 and over, $35 for children 12-4, 3 and under is free;

$60 for vintage cars, $54 for senior, $35 for children 12-4.
