Library Notes

New books are on the shelves

Time just seems to be rushing along and I can hardly believe that fall is just around the corner. I hope you have had an opportunity to spend some time outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

In my last column, I failed express our appreciation to Arvest Bank and the Walton Family Foundation for their generous contribution of $2,500 to be used to purchase computers for the new library. We are very grateful. Each week brings us a little closer to our goal.

I had my last eye surgery last week and all is going well. I have a follow-up with my doctor Wednesday and I am going to be cutting it close to get back and open at 1 p.m. If I am not there at 1 p.m., please wait a few minutes. Thanks to Diane and Heather for taking over for me last week. They checked out lots of books, which is always good.

I have spent a large portion of today going through book catalogs marking books to order. In a couple of weeks we should have a dozen or more new books. I picked up a few new books at Barnes and Noble, and purchased some really good children’s books at Sam’s. There is nothing better than seeing the smile on a young person’s face when they learn that a book they want to read is on the shelf.

For the C. J. Box fans we have Back of Beyond. JohnSanford’s Shock Wave, Betrayal of Trust by J. A.

Jance, The Scent of Water by Elizabeth Goudge and Rick Riordan’s The Son of Neptune are just a few of the new additions. We have some Christian fiction series that are incomplete and we are trying to locate the missing books. We were fortunate to receive a donation of Christian fiction books and I am working to get these processed and on the shelves.

We have been busy packing up books from the book sale. We would like to donate some of these books to a good cause. We also have a large number of large print Reader’s Digest Magazines we would like to donate. If you know of some library, etc. that could use these, please contact the library at 451-8442.

See at the library!
