Kate Hudson, a senior at Pea Ridge High, is among an elite group of students from across the country competing to become national Merit Finalists. Kate earned National Merit Semi-finalist status during her junioryear at Pea Ridge by scoring in the top five percent of PSAT test takers in October of 2010.

Nationwide, this represents less than one percent of all students in her graduating class. To become a finalist, the semifinalist must apply, write an essay and take the SAT.

In addition, Kate has distinguished herself at PeaRidge High in remarkable fashion by becoming a College Board AP Scholar, according to Rick Neal, high school principal.

She accomplished this by earning a qualifying score on the AP World History exam her sophomore year, and on the AP Chemistry and AP Language exams last year. This dedication to excellence continues as she is presently enrolled in AP Literature, AP Calculus AB, AP Physics C, AP Biology and AP 2-D Drawing.

Miss Hudson plans to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia and to major in Chemical Engineering.

She was recently recognized, and applauded, at the Pea Ridge School Board meeting. She is the daughter of Damon and Robin Hudson of Pea Ridge.
