The TIMES of Northeast Benton County

The Garfield City andWater Department office opened in the log smoke house across U.S. Highway 62 from The Buss Stop. The city was renting the space for $350 a month from Gary Buss.

Discipline problems, noise level in the halls and textbook damage have all diminished since deciding to do away with lockers in the new high school, said principal Gary Wayman.

During the building of the new high school in 2000, Wayman asked the school board to consider not installing lockers. He and his staff researched the issue with other schools, asked for student input and decided the school would be better off without them. He said the district could also save money.
