PEA RIDGE POLICE DEPARTMENT

Incidents reported to the Pea Ridge Police Department this week include:

Four warrants served:

◊10/4 Vincent Melchor, 20, Rogers, failure to appear;

◊10/4 Wendel Pullen, 45, Paragould, failure to appear;

◊10/8 Bob Moppin, 40, Pea Ridge, for disorderly conduct, insulting or abuse of a teacher, harassment and obstruction of governmental operations, in reference to an incident at Pea Ridge Intermediate School on Sept. 16 with a school official; and

◊10/9 Herbert Ross, 28, contempt failure to pay fines and costs.

Other incidents include: Monday, Oct. 3

4:30 p.m. While on routine patrol, an officer noticed a round hay bale on fire.

The bale was in a field across the street from the post office between North Curtis Avenue and Carr Street. The officer extinguished the fire and waited for firefighters from the Fire Department to arrive. It appeared the fire had been set intentionally.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

8:42 a.m. Received a report of a loose dog on Conrad Street, but were unable to locate.

9:54 a.m. A county resident told police she had purchased hay in a field between North Curtis Avenue and Carr Street and reported she had seen several young people cutting through the field after school.

10:40 a.m. A resident from Gates Lane turned in a small brown dog she had found wandering on Davis Street.

11:30 a.m. A resident on St. Clair Street reported her vehicle had been taken without permission. It was located on Lee Town Drive and returned.

5:30 p.m. While on routine patrol on Townsend Way,a police officer was cursed by a male on a bicycle. Police attempted to stop him to talk, but the male fled and was not apprehended.

5:45 p.m. Three male juveniles, ages 13, 15 and 17, were issued written warnings for trespassing in the hay field between North Curtis Avenue and Carr Street across the street from the post office.

9:10 p.m. Received a report offireworks off South Curtis Avenue.

The investigation led to the arrest of Stephanie Slinkard, 28, Wade Lane, Pea Ridge.

Wednesday, Oct. 5

11 a.m. Police were asked to assist Bentonville police by notifying a resident on Hayden Road that her vehicle was apparently abandoned in Bentonville.

12 p.m. Police were flagged down by an employee of the medical center telling them a woman had called demanding an appointment and threatening the employees. Police were called to the business later that day to see the woman, Chrissandra Ankeny, 64, leaning through the receptionist’s window and threatening her. Ankeny was told to leave the business and not come back. She threatened and cursed the officer and employees.

5:45 p.m. A resident on Douglas Street reported seeing five or six juveniles looking in the windows of houses. Police were unable to locate them.

7:24 p.m. An animal complaint involving the welfare of dogs at a residence on Chapman Road.

8:55 p.m. Alarm at Pea Ridge Intermediate School. All was secure.

Thursday, Oct. 6

4:45 p.m. Alarm at Pea Ridge Intermediate School, police found an unlocked door, cleared the building and advised Central Communications of the unlocked door. No representative was available.

6:30 p.m. A resident on Halleck Lane reported hearing shots fired. Police found two males, ages 15 and 18, who admitted they had been shooting but believed their property was in the county, not the city. They were advised there was a city ordinance against discharging firearms.

10:10 p.m. Civil call involving from a 34-year-old male from Rogers called from a residence on Farrell Street reporting that his wife had taken their infant son and was staying at a residence on Luke Street. He went to the residence to retrieve his son. Police spoke to the 31-year-old woman who said she did not wish to go home.The two were advised that the incident wasa civil matter.

Friday, Oct. 7

1 p.m. A traffic stop at It’ll Do Road and Arkansas Highway 72 resulted in the arrest of Carl Prince, 39, Pea Ridge, for failure to pay fines and costs warrant from Pea Ridge, and Shawn Howell, 30, of Garfield, on a Benton County Sheriff’s Office warrant for child support.

6:10 p.m. Were advised that there was a purse on the “other side” of a barbed wire fence at the end of St. Clair Street near the intersection with Humphrey Street. Police retrieved the purse, located the owner who was a 29-year-old female resident of Mary Phelps Drive. She reported the purse must have been taken from her unlocked parked vehicle.

7 p.m. While working security at Blackhawk Stadium, police saw juveniles smoking. A 17-year-old male was cited for disorderly conduct and using tobacco on school property.

7:27 p.m. Alarm at Pea Ridge Intermediate School, building was secure.

11 p.m. A county resident reported that her 12-year-old son was hit by another student while at the high school game at the football field. She said his nose and lip were bloodied and she wanted to press charges.

Saturday, Oct. 8

10:24 a.m. Alarm at Collier Drug, apparently caused by a potential customer pulling on the door, which was not securely locked. The woman said she did not know the business was closed on Saturdays. A representative arrived and secured the building.

12:22 p.m. Assisted the ambulance when a woman fell at the vendor booths at the Mule Jump on the High School grounds.

1 p.m. Assisted the ambulance with a medical for a patient in the stands at the Mule Jump.

1:45 p.m. Received a report from the driver of the Pea Ridge ambulance of a reckless driver on Arkansas Highway 72. Police stopped the vehicle at EZ Martand cited Rebecca Leonard, 34, Bentonville, for careless and prohibitive driving.

Sunday, Oct. 9

12:06 a.m. A traffic stop on Halleck Lane at Slack Street resulted in the arrest of Marissa Rounds, 20, Pea Ridge, for BCSO warrants. She was also cited for driving on a suspended driver’s license, failure to register and no insurance.

4:19 a.m. A physical disturbance at a residence on Hayden Road involving a 15-year-old girl hitting her mother and reportedly throwing a rock through a window.The youth was taken to Benton County Juvenile Detention Center for battery III and criminal mischief.

8:55 a.m. A disturbance no longer in progress at a residence on North Curtis Avenue with a 28-year-old male reporting that his 35-year-old girlfriend had struck him after she found him in bed with another woman at a residence on Sugar Creek. He was reportedly trying to move his belongings out of their house and requested she be kept out while he moves out his belongings. He said he did not want to press charges.

12:29 p.m. A two-vehicle accident on Townsend Way at the intersection with North Curtis Avenue between David Farr, 28, Pea Ridge, who was driving a Pea Ridge Fire Department truck, and Brenda Winn, 58, Pea Ridge, driving a 2001 Honda Accord. According to report, Farr backed up and hit Winn’s vehicle.

3 p.m. A one-vehicle accident on Hayden Road. Ron Henderson, Bella Vista, the driver of the vehicle, which was pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it, reported a trailer tire blew out causing the motorcycle to fall off the trailer and roll down the road.

9:20 p.m. A hit and run on East Mc-Nelly Road at It’ll Do Road was reported by Karen Shelton, 17, of Pea Ridge, who said a red vehicle turned in front of her.

She said she slammed on her brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the rear bumper of the other vehicle, which did not stop. The incident was reported to have happened at noon.
