NEGEL HALL MEMORIAL AWARD

— Col. Negel Hall was one of the originators of the first mule jump in Pea Ridge. Over the years, he served as master of ceremonies, emeritus and honorary mule jump chairman besides entering his mules in the contests. Hall spent much of his life working with jumping mules such as Frosty and Copper.

Col. Hall is honored by the award bearing his name for starting this unique tradition in Pea Ridge.

Col. Hall died Oct. 10, 1998.

His widow, Peggy Louise Hall, presented the award for many years. She died Jan. 24, 2011.

The couple bought the farm on Arkansas Highway 94 across from the present location of the high school in 1958. There, Col. Hall raised and trained his jumping mules and a Brahma bull named V.J.
