James Oscar Bell

James Oscar Bell, 85, of Pea Ridge, formerly of Batesville, Ark., died Tuesday, Sept.

27, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born Jan. 7, 1926, at Desha, Ark., to Thomas Bell and Susie Foust Bell.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for International Shoe Company. He was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Roy Bell, Clyde Bell, Clayton Bell, Lonnie Bell, Kale Bell, and one sister, Fannie Carlile.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Bell of the home; one son, Jerry Ott Bell and his wife, Patricia, of Pea Ridge; one sister, Ethel Cameron of Desha;

grandchildren: MacKenzie Bell and Garrett Bell; and honorary granddaughter, Shelby Horn.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 29, at the funeral home.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Burial was at Pea Ridge Cemetery.

Connie Lee Ellis

Connie Lee Ellis, 73, of Washburn, Mo., formerly of Bentonville, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

She was born Aug. 9, 1938,in Pea Ridge, to Willis Wesley Keene and Hettie Leora Johnson Keene.

She graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1956, married her husband, Jimmy, on Jan. 24, 1964, was a homemaker, and loved to collect angels and hummingbirds. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Washburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Ellis, of the home; one daughter, Lana Patterson and husband, Jim, of Bentonville;

one son, Kently Ellis and wife, Valerie, of Washburn; one sister, Kathryn Ellis of Washburn; two brothers, Billie Wes Keene and wife, Leona, of Seligman and Willis Keene and wife, Margie, of Pea Ridge; eight grandchildren, Casey, Breana and Darrell Patterson, Lloyd, Kelsey and Kaylen Ellis, and James and William Barnett; and 15 nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Funeral is set for 2 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 6, at First Baptist Church in Washburn, Mo., with pastors Glenn Erwin and Jim Erwin officiating.

Burial will be at Dent Cemetery near Washburn.

John Allen Hickman

John Allen Hickman, 73, of Bella Vista died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. He was born April 12, 1938, in Pea Ridge to Clyde Wilson Hickman and Margaret Florelle (Woods) Hickman.

He graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1956 and married the love of his life , Beth Prior Hickman, in Biloxi, Miss., in 1960. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1979, having served 20 years for his country, and then retired again in 2001 from Scott Paper/Fibertech/PGI.

He loved working with the Pea Ridge Historical Society, the NorthwestArkansas Genealogical Society, his computers and photography, especially of his family.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Beth, of the home; three sons, Tim Hickman of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Dennis Hickman of Bentonville and Daniel Hickman of Bella Vista;

two daughters, Nancy Merkey and her husband Gary of Centerton and Mary Thompson of Conway; one brother, Jim Hickman and his wife Bridgette of Bella Vista; eight grandchildren;

nine great-grandchildren;

and five nephews and one niece.

Graveside services for will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
