Linden’s Jewelry welcomes diamond cutter Linus Faber

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

— Linus Faber, a classically trained master diamond cutter, has joined Linden’s Jewelry, making the Bella Vista jeweler the only store in Arkansas to have an in-house diamond cutter.

“This will really put us on the map,” said owner and goldsmith Ashley Linden. “It will help local jewelers so they don’t have to ship out-of-state, and hopefully [our store will] become a place of tourism. It’s rare and impressive to watch a diamond being cut.”

Faber can repair chipped or broken diamonds. He can also rework older cuts to produce a modern ideal-cut diamond, which maximizes the light reflection and increases the value of the stone.

Linden’s also has an on-site gem cutter.

“Softer stones can show wear and abrasion,” Linden said. “We remove the stone, cut it, polish it and reset it.”

As a goldsmith, Linden specializes in taking gold, melting it down and reforming it into a new piece of jewelry.

“I like to utilize the precious elements that we have and reuse it and make it into new. This way you get new jewelry without paying top gold prices and get to keep the precious metal and jewels,” Linden said.

One of the sentimental projects she offers is to melt and refine the wedding band of a widow andmake the husband’s ring into a new item, such as a pendant.

Linden is trained in the Old World style of Italian goldsmithing.

The store offers custom-design consultations, appraisals, watch repair, estate evaluations and all types of jewelry repair. Inventory includes a range of jewelry from costume wear to exquisite Italian pieces.

“Whatever your budget or style, we can make or have something for you.”

The store also buys gold for cash or in-store credit. Customers can also trade in jewelry for credit towards lay-away.

Linden’s will be receiving new pieces for the holidays, including colored diamonds. A favorite supplier of the owner, Designs by Kate, offers sterling silver with genuine gemstones such as pearls, amethyst, agate, topaz and diamonds, giving a high-fashion look without exorbitant prices.

Linden’s Jewelry is located at 606 W. Lancashire Boulevard, Bella Vista. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. There will be extended holiday hours in November and December, and after-hours appointments also are available.
