Life is one big surprise

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

I ate in the hot lunch room with fourth-graders and, as always, the food was excellent. I’m always amazed at the cooks’ and helpers’ precision movements while feeding that many little people. Also, they are able to look every one of them full face and call most of them by name.

The grandson took my milk carton off my tray, opened it and replaced it.

The boy next to him said: “Why did you do that?” The answer was: “Grandma has one thumb that doesn’t work and she can’t do that.”

I saw the boy was impressed. I hope he noticed that as we were leaving, the grandson saw me trying to get one hip towards right and balancing a partially full tray, he grabbed my purse and carried it while balancing his tray with one hand. The other grandson used to do these things for me, but he’s growing up and I only see him about once a week. This one will grow up and then I’ll have to do it myself and it will be good for me!

I set between Laura Wren and my daughter on Sunday morning, Laura moved here from Florida so will be experiencing her first winter here.

Randy Woods shared our pew and we had a couple in front of us that were visiting. Every second Sundaywe celebrate the months’ birthdays with cake and coffee.

Be sure to remember the Brightwater U.M./W Bazaar to be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 12 -14.

The Pea Ridge church has invited our young people to join them next Sunday at 1 p.m. for a trip to the corn maze at Lowell.

After reading all the improvements that have been made of the hip replacement surgery, it’s amazing at how my hip improves.

Somewhere I read these words and jotted them down. It was a stroke of unanticipated luck! That very day I experienced that very thing. Life is sometimes one big surprise.
