New books coming in to library

— Treats at the library on Halloween Night was so much fun. About 45 children received treat bags.

There were so many cute children - twin girls in fairy costumes with their brother dressed as a bear, a bee, a vampire, a cowboy and so many other costumes. All were well behaved and well mannered. Now, we can’t wait until next year for treats in the new building! Thanks to all the parents who stopped by with their children.

The Library Board members and I want to thank Derry and Sharon Camp of D & S Auctions for auctioning some surplus items for us and for their generous contribution to the library. It is much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who helped move the items to the auction.

We appreciate all help weare receiving as the library prepares for the move next year.

New books are arriving and I will get them on the shelves as quickly as I can.

The new book by Jennifer Chiaverini, “The Wedding Quilt,” has a waiting list, so call to get your name on the list. Four books by Mariah Stewart from The Chesapeake Diaries series are in. There will be a fifth book in this series in 2012.

John Grisham’s new book, “The Litigator,” is on back order as is “Explosive Eighteen” by Janet Evanovich. These probably won’t arrive in the library until early December.

We received several donations this past week. We are especially pleased to have received books relating to the Civil War as well as a couple of World War II books.

I have had a few requests from out-of-towners for a book on cemetery records in this area, particularly Benton County. The only book we have in the library dealing with cemetery records is Cemetery Records of Washington County, Ark Volume I Academy, Evergreen Cemeteries published by Washington County Historical Society.

I would appreciate any information you might have on Benton County cemeteries.

You may have noticed a few boxes of books and magazines on the bench in front of the library. We had a number of books and magazines left over from the book sale that we haveput out free for the taking. These are older books but still make good reading material now that the weather is getting cooler and people will be staying inside more.

The work on the Pea Ridge school sign across from the library has been completed. Councilwoman Nadine Telgemeier planted flowers under the sign. It looks very attractive.

Life is good at the library!
