PEA RIDGE — The 2010-2011 annual Pea Ridge FFA banquet was held May 6, and it was a big hit!
About 150 family members and friends came out to have a great time and join our FFA group in celebrating the success of another year.
Starting the festivities, president Chase Thetford welcomed guests and members. Daniel Baker, vice president, gave a benediction preceding the dinner catered by Famous Dave’s BBQ.
FFA four-year seniors - Baker, Thetford, Kelsey Parameter and Dakota Coan - were awarded.
Parameter and Baker gave endearing speeches about there future-farmers experience, after which awards were given.
Outstanding Shop Student was awarded to Wes Harper. The award for Outstanding Natural Resources was given to Tyler Courtney. Parmenter was given the award for Outstanding FFA member. Star Greenhand was awarded to Jennifer Isgrigg.
Appreciation Awards were given to Christie andJerry Beaver, Cheryl Tillman and LaRay Thetford.
Proficiency awards were given to: Kelsie Galyen - poultry production; Kelsey Parmenter - dairy production, diverse livestock production; Chase Thetford - dairy production;
Tyler Hamilton - sheep production; Colton Holtgrewe - beef production;
Afton Danner - equine science; Jennifer Isgrigg - equine science; Caleb Killman - small animal production and care, ag mechanic energy systems;
Joey Steff - small animal production and care; Wes Harper - veterinary medicine, forest management products; Zach Oldebeken - Agricultural Sales, forest management products;
Austin Horton - home and community developement; Holly Frasier - diversified horticulture; Austin Cope - landscapemanagement, ag mechanics repair and maintenance; Jordan Hayes - turf grass management;
George Gilmer - vegetable production; Billy Hern - fruit production; Tyler Courtney - environmental science and natural resources; Johnny Simpkins - outdoor recreation; Dakota Coan - wildlife management; Garret Morgan - wildlife management; Josh Hoskins - ag mechanics design and fabrication.
After awards were all given, the 2011-2012 officers were installed. The 2011-2012 Pea Ridge FFA offficers are: Wes Harper, president; Wesley Woollard and Jennifer Isgrigg, vice presidents; Afton Danner, secretary; Holly Frasier, reporter; Ryan Nichols, treasurer; Devin Morgan, sentinel; and Johnny Simpkins, parliamentarian.
The new officers officially closed the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and high hopes.
