LOCAL ASSISTANCE TO JOPLIN

Bank collecting

Employees at Community First Bank are collecting toys, food, clothing and money to send to the relief efforts in Joplin, according to Montana Vicory and Ashley Manuel. Donations may be taken to CFB. For more information, call the bank at 451-4000.

Animals aided

Dr. Karen Sherman at Oak View Animal Hospital sent a supply of cat and dog food, cat litter and animal carriers to Joplin this week and is collecting donations for more. She said the Department of Emergency Management said food, litter and pet carriers are needed. For more information, call 451-1048.

High school and First Baptist church working together

Items can be donated from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. today to fill a Pea Ridge school bus, band trailer and the First Baptist Church trailer. Items will be taken to Victory Church in Springdale, then delivered to Joplin.

Items needed include: Plastic containers, work gloves, bottled water, underclothing, laundry baskets, personal hygiene products, baby items, beds, strollers, diapers, formula, wipes, towels, wash cloths, sheets, blankets,pillows and food items (best if prepared or easy to eat in hotel rooms).

Donations can also be dropped off at Victory Church on 48th Street in Springdale.

American Red Cross donations

Donations can be made to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund at www.redcross.org or by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999 to donate $10.
