Spring break programs

DIAMOND, Mo.

- Springtime is here and George Washington Carver National Monument announces special programs for spring break.

Elementary-aged students and their families may enjoy the PEEP Passport Program (Partnership for Environmental Education Program). Partners include George Washington Carver National Monument, Nathan Boone State Historic site, Mo. Department of Conservation’s Joplin Office, Prairie State Park, Roaring River State Park, Southeast Kansas Nature Center, Wildcat Glades Conservation, and Audubon Center and Neosho National Fish Hatchery.

Stop by the information desk at the park or at any of the partner sites for a free passport. Visit six of the eight sites to earn a freepatch featuring the spring peeper, the frog that tells us spring is here!

The Junior Ranger Plant Doctor booklet helps early readers learn more about the park and earn a badge. The Junior Ranger Scientist booklet is more advanced for older readers.

Both are free of charge and available daily at the visitor center. Join thousands of kids across the country in earning these collectable badges.

During the week, park rangers will conduct fun programs such as; science experiments, spelling bees or painting activities. Stop by the park to find out about the “daily special.”

The monument is located two miles west of Diamond, Missouri, on Highway V, then south on Carver Road. For more information, call the park at (417) 325-4151 between 9a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
