— On routine patrol Sunday evening, Pea Ridge police officer Chris Olson saw a vehicle pass through the four-way stop with a broken windshield that appeared to obscure the vision of the driver. Before he could stop the vehicle, Officer Olson saw suspicious activity and called for the assistance of another officer.

Initially, three males were observed in the vehicle which parked at Fred’s and then Marvin’s where one of the men exited the vehicle through a window. The vehicle then pulled back out on N. Curtis Avenue and abruptly turned on Tinnin Street.

Olson stopped the vehicle on Smith and Tinnin streets and the driver exited the vehicle acting erratically while approaching Olson.

When the records of the two men were checked, both were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrest and a search of the vehicle yielded substances in bags which appeared to be drugs - methamphetamine and marijuana.

Arrested were:

◊Richard Ortiz, 35, Corning, Ark., for paroleviolation and possession with intent to deliver narcotics, and

◊Clarence King, 43, Seligman, Mo., for warrants from Bentonville and Rogers, a felony warrant from the MissouriDepartment of Corrections, and possession with intent to deliver narcotics.

While being booked into the jail. a large amount of cash - about $2,800 - was found and seized.

Both men were taken to the Benton County Jail where King was being held Tuesday in lieu of a total of $15,825 in bonds and Ortiz was being held Tuesday in lieu of $15,000 in bonds.
