School ends year with $1.23 million

— Anticipating an ending balance of $1,235,745 after all expenditures to end the 2010-2011 fiscal year, Pea Ridge school superintendent Mike Van Dyke presented the financial report to School Board members Monday night. He told board members the purchase of a bus may be necessary, but no action was taken on that.

Stating that only 47.5 percent of the budget was expended “due to fiscally responsible budgeting and expenditure process,” Van Dyke told theboard that although all revenues have to be budgeted, they do not have to be spent.

In other business, the board:

◊Approved a proposal to reimburse both certified and classified staff for unused sick leave at retirement with conditions at a cost of $50 per day.

◊Accepted the resignations of Doris Metcalf and Bonnie Tyler, classified staff; and Thomas C. Humphreville, high school math teacher, and Heather Phillips, from junior high cheer coach only.

◊Approved increasing the mileage reimbursement from 39 cents to 45 cents for personal vehicles used for business.
