Mary Jane Dodson

Mary Jane Dodson, 73, of Tulsa, Okla., died Monday, March 14, at Leisure Village in Tulsa. She was born Jan.

2, 1938 at Yellowcreek, Mo., to Francis Earl Allen and Bessie May Padgett Allen.

She lived in the Garfield area for 35 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening reading, birds and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Dodson; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Lyle McCollum Jr. and Charles King, both of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Kennita Martin and Aveta Kannady;

two great-grandchildren, John Martin and Haley Kannady; and four sisters.

No visitation is scheduled.

Graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield with pastor Rick Booyer officiating.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Laura Iva Hensley

BENTONVILLE - Laura Iva Hensley, 69, of Bentonville, died March 12, 2011, in Springdale. She was born March 15, 1941, in Kentucky to Allen and Norma Sweet Willis.

She was a dietitian and a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include her children, Edith Jackson and Donnie Long, both of Bentonville, David Long of Michigan, Lynne Brewer of Little Rock, Melinda Davis of Pea Ridge and Shamone Hale of Alexander City, Ala.; 28 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home of Rogers.

Nena Evans

SPRINGDALE - Nena Evans, 87, of Springdale, died Friday, March 11, 2011, in Springdale. She was born Sept. 29, 1923, in Bee Branch, Ark., to Franklin and Viola Winningham McKnight.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springdale, a member of the Stephen Ministry and a member of the Quilting Guild in Springdale. She loved gardening and was a volunteer for Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

Nena Evans left her career as an operating room nurse to devote her life to her husband, Art, for 55 years, and their family until her dying day. Raising two sons and one daughter, she taught by example how to live one’s life with integrity and compassion, good humor and love. Ever the champion of the underdog, a healer of those suffering from physical or emotional pain, she left an indelible impression on the spirit of the people whose lives she touched.

Gone now to live in the house of the Lord she loved, she will be sorely missed by the family and friends she’s left behind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dunn Evans; a sister, Eunice Evans; two brothers, Edsel McKnight and Kermit McKnight; and one grandson, Paul Barenz.

Survivors include one daughter, Becky Barenz and her husband, Ronald, of Garfield, Ark.; two sons, Mark Evans and his wife, Rita, of Needville, Texas;

David Evans and his wife, Jean, of Bergman, Ark.; five sisters, Mildred Maxwell, Marie Loftis, Mada Knight, Macel Quattlebaum and Ima Jo Bradley; 10 grandchildren, Chris Barenz, Joshua Evans, Spencer Evans, Ryan Evans, Logan Evans, Sara White, Kerry Miller, Eric Evans, Eli Evans and Nena Evans; and fourgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the First United Methodist Church in Springdale.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
