Artifact Identification

In honor of March as Arkansas Archeology Month, the Shiloh Museum will host an artifact identification program at noon Saturday, March 5. Archeologists from the Arkansas Archeological Survey will be on hand to answer questions about prehistoric and historic artifacts brought in by the public.

The Art and History of Glassblowing

Glassblower Ron Mynatt will present a program on the art and history of glassblowing at noon Wednesday, March 16, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Mynatt began his career as a glassblower at Silver Dollar City. Later, he served as the blown glass instructor at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock,before moving on to Terra Studios in Durham, Arkansas. Today, he creates hand-blown glass art at his Callahan Mountain Studios in Springdale. A member of the Arkansas Craft Guild, Mynatt’s work was included in the touring exhibit for the Year of American Craft in 1993, and he designed and produced the 2004 and 2005 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure regional awards.

Writing Group

LifeWriters, a group for people interested in writing the stories of their own lives or those of family and friends, will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, and Monday, March 21, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The museum is located at the corner of Johnson and Main in downtownSpringdale. For more information, call June Jefferson at 790-2588.

The Boston Mountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17.

Storytellers Group

The Tellers of Tales group for storytellers will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19. All tellers and listeners are invited to attend. Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24. The museum is located at the corner of Johnson and Main in downtown Springdale. For more information, call 750-8165.
