— Fifteen year old Jennifer Isgrigg is not your average teenager.

When she was 2 years old, her interest in horses began with a mule and continues with a speckled Appaloosa, named Appy.

When she’s not riding for fun, she’s competing.

At the 2011 Northwest Arkansas Regional 4-H Horse Show, she placed third in Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship and second in Western Riding. Not only did she compete in horsemanship but in pageantry.

Isgrigg represented Benton County as she was crowned Sr. Queen May 28.

For the pageant, she presented afour-minute speech, an interview and a horsemanship pattern.

There were around 20 competitors for the junior and senior queen titles.

She is a member of multiple clubs in the community, one of which competed in the 4-H Horse Show.

Isgrigg has been a member of the Benton County 4-H Horsemanship Club for a year and competed alongside other club members during the event.

Not only is Isgrigg a 4-H member but so is her brother, who also competed in the event.

Cody placed second in Halter Mares and fifth in Junior Showmanship.

4-H plays a major role in the Isgrigg’s life as the entire family is involved.

Calvin Isgrigg serves as the mainleader of the Cannonball Club while his wife, Lea, works as the activity leader.

“As the club president for Cannonball, it’s my job to set an example for the younger ones to participate in 4-H events and this was just my way of doing it,” she said.

Isgrigg will represent the district as she competes at the state level in Searcy, Ark., July 12-16.
