Arkansas Municipal League elects new officers at 77th convention

— Garfield Mayor Laura Hamilton was elected District 3 vice president at the Arkansas Municipal League 77th Convention. The new slate of officers was elected for the 2011-2012 year. Hamilton has four years of service to the League on the Executive Committee and the Incorporated Towns Advisory Council.

Other officers elected for 2011-2012 include Marion Mayor Frank Fogleman, president; Camden Mayor Chris Claybaker, first vice president; West Memphis alderman Herman Coleman, District 1 vice president; Sherwood Mayor Virginia Hillman, District 2 vice president; and Arkadelphia Mayor C.T.

(Chuck) Hollingshead, District 4 vice president.

More than 1,300 city and town officials from across Arkansas attended the 77th Convention, where they discussed the league’s agenda for the upcoming year. The convention also offered two sessions of the League’s new Voluntary Certified Continuing Education program for mayorsand aldermen, and a variety of workshops covering topics of municipal interest, including economic development, emergency preparedness, municipal redistricting, 2010 Census figures and more.

The Arkansas Municipal League is a service and advocacy organization for the municipalities of Arkansas.
