Mernie Lucille Flower

Mernie Lucille Flower, 86, of Pea Ridge, died Sunday, June 19, at Northwest Medical Center of Bentonville. She was born June 29, 1924, at Fraser, Colo., to John Smith and Lula Hutsell Smith.

She lived in Byers, Colo., most of her life before moving to Pea Ridge in 1992 to make her home. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Arliene Yarberry and her husband, Mike, of Pea Ridge; one son, DeWayne Flower of Garfield; one brother, Harry Smith and his wife, Bonnie, of Yuma, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Jacob Flower of Garfield and Kyla Downing and her husband, Robert, of Fayetteville.

No visitation is scheduled.

Graveside service is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at Pea Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Shults officiating.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

Lillian Mae Bolain Anderson Murphree

Lillian Mae Bolain Anderson Murphree, 96, of Bentonville, Ark., died June 17, 2011, at her home.

She was born Nov. 27, 1914, in McDonald County, Mo., to Edgar Bolain and Millie McCool Bolain.

She lived with her parents north of Pea Ridge the first four years of her life. She then moved to the Bella Vista area where she lived until 1962 whenshe moved to Bentonville.

She was a member of the Bentonville Church of Christ since 1951.

She married Louis Anderson in November of 1935. They were married for 12 years when he died in April of 1947. She later married Doil “Jack” Murphree on March 29, 1950, and they were married for 39 years until he passed away in May of 1989.

Her hobbies were quilting and working in her flowers. She quilted over 50 quilts in her life which she gave to family and friends. She enjoyed taking pictures, family history and loved dolls and would make various outfits for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Esther Griffin; three brothers, Luther Bolain, Leonard Bolain and L.P. Bolain; her stepson, DoyleMurphree; and stepdaughter, LaRue Sumner.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ann Anderson Pinner and her husband, Doyle, of Bentonville; two stepdaughters; a sister, Lorena Winch and husband Jerry of Springdale; a sisterin-law, Ann Bolain of Bentonville; two grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; a number of stepgreat-grandchildren; and stepgreat-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the Bentonville Church of Christ with Walter Buchanan and Walton Hook officiating.

Burial followed in the Bentonville Cemetery.

Carol Jean Howard

Carol Jean Howard, 71, of Garfield, died Tuesday, June 14, at her home. Shewas born Aug. 31, 1939, at Faribault, Minn., to Albert Jandro and Delphine Hegland.

She moved to Garfield 15 years ago from Minneapolis to make her home. She enjoyed karaoke and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents;

her husband, Gary Howard; a daughter DeniseMcDonough; and three sisters, Gladys Bell, Helen Darlington and Debbie Bradfield.

Survivors include four sons, Patrick Stickney of Richfield, Minn., Richard Stickney of Garfield, Marty Stickney of Minneapolis, Minn., and Shang Williams of Yankton, S.D.;

a daughter, Kathy Natoli of Ft. Worth, Texas; a brother, Kenneth Witt of Montana;

a sister, Janet Tomasko of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a stepbrother and step-sister, Dick and Jean; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Burial will be at Ft. Snelling Veterans National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn., at a later date.
