Granny’s Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love met May 17 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Donna Beaver opened the meeting with prayer and Marge Crowder conducted the meeting. Fifteen members and one guest, Debbie Derozier, were present.

The ladies cut 250 quilt kits and, as of May 17, the total of quilts made is 11,831, pillows 3,938 and 1,629 hats.

Discussion was regarding the menu and items already donated for the upcoming dinner and auction to be held Aug. 27. Starting in July, the club memmbers will sell raffle tickets.

The next meeting will be 9:30 a.m. June 21 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. For more information, contact Mary Margaret Webb at 451-8640.

New Meadowbrook Ext. Homemakers Club

On June 9, president Ione Kauffeld led the members in the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Karen Launderville based her devotions on Matthew 6:25 and 32 and read a story entitled, “Medicine.”

Roll call was answered by nine ladies telling how they use spices.

Under neighborhood news, it was reported that NEBCO country breakfast, on Memorial Day, was a success, with almost 300 people served.

Chicken in a Sack will be held on July 9. The annual Turkey Shoot will be held Oct. 1. There will be shooting contests with frozen turkeys awarded as prizes. Although there will not be a live auction, other features include: a silent auction, rib cook-off, chicken and rib dinner, raffle and children’s games.

School is out and a breakfast was held for the volunteers involved in the Hound Dog helpers. A music program, talent show and fourth quarter awards were all held in May and June.

It was decided to bring canned meat or other non-perishables to our July meeting for God’s Pantry.

On June 17, at 9:30 a.m., there will be a training meeting and installation for club leaders at the community center, in Bentonville. June 22, two lessons will be taught to later be shared in club meetings. At 9:30 a.m., the lesson on birds and feeding will be offered and at 10:45 a.m., there will be a lesson on caring for houseplants.

A class for ladies interested in judging at county fairs will be offered in Harrison on July 8.

Register on or before June 24.

A note of thanks from Autumn Place was read, with a coffee break following. Karen passed out useful information on closet clean out tips.

The meeting was adjourned with the Homemakers Pledge.
