Village House Spring Festival

— The annual Spring Festival fundraiser for Village House Adult Day Program will be June 18 in Bella Vista.

The festival will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Highlands Crossing, 1801 Forest Hills Blvd.

Activities will include a children’s carnival with games for kids of all ages and a celebrity dunking booth. Bingo will begin at 9 a.m., offering a table of great prizes.

Grilled hot dogs and hamburgers will be available throughout the day, along with bratwurst and sauerkraut by Chef Michael from Northwest Arkansas Community College.

An auction is planned, along with a huge book sale with wellknown titles and authors at great prices. A fl ea market area also will be set up.

Members of area Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs will be on hand to help with food and games, and golf carts will shuttle attendees to and from the parking area.

Tickets will be sold on location for the various events and games. All proceeds from the Spring Festival support Village House Adult Day Program.

Village House is a nonprofi t facility offering social, recreational, and educational opportunities for its participants while providing a respite to caregivers. People with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory problems, stroke victims, arthritis sufferers, and those with other needs or ailments all are welcome.

Since 1988, Village House has been offering an option to those not yet ready for a nursing home. Village House is an ElderChoices provider, and wheelchair and incontinent clients are welcome as well.

Village House activity offerings include games, educational programs, music, crafts, daily exercise sessions, field trips and other outings, and monthly birthday parties. A day at Village House includes a morning snack, noon lunch, and an afternoon snack.

Village House policy requires its staff and volunteers to have double the amount of in-service hours required by state law.

The 12-member board of directors includes an attorney, several health-care professionals, a newspaper editor, along with individuals who have had loved ones as participants at Village House.

Most support for Village House comes from the United Way, local churches, service groups, businesses and individuals. The Spring Festival is the major fundraiser for the year.
