Utilities OK’d to moved

— The Pea Ridge Planning Commission met Tuesday night with only one item on the agenda - to consider a impound/car lot at 624 W. Slack Street by Ted Slaughter.

City building official Tony Townsend said the school’s large scale development plan had not yet been reviewed by the city and that he had told school officials that “if” five or more planners OK’d it, they could push up the time frame and be considered at the July Planning Commission meeting.

Townsend said he sent the schedule of meeting dates and submission deadlines to the architects last January. May 20 was the deadline for the June 2 tech review meeting for plans to be considered at the July 5 commission meeting.

“They can move the electric and gas,” Townsend said.

Water/wastewater superintendent Ken Hayes said he has requested a meeting later this week to discuss the water and sewer lines. “Until that’s approved, they’re not moving anything,” Hayes said.

The school’s plans include demolition of several old buildings and construction and remodeling of others for a larger intermediate school facility. The $5 million project is expected to take 12 months to complete.
