Four piano students won membership in national fraternity

Four piano pupils from the class of Roberta Garrett Music Studio won membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Teacher Division of the American College of Musicians. Their teacher, Mrs. Garrett has been a member since 1968. Garrett, 155 Frost St., has been an ACM adjudicator for 11 years serving eight states.

Jimmy Flanagan of Pea Ridge and Aaron, Cecilia and Clare Doss of Berryville auditioned during April 25 - May13 in Rogers and Harrison. They were evaluated by their presentation of baroque, classical, romantic and modern works. Each entrant successfully received a certificate, a gold, silver or bronze pin, a report card and a year’s membership in the fraternity.

Throughout the United States and abroad, more than 100,000 piano pupils participate every year in the Annual Auditions in over 880 music centers. They are judged by professional adjudicators chosen by the national organization.

Flanagan is the son of Brenda Flanagan of Pea Ridge and Jim Flanagan of Lincoln and the grandson of Doris Potter of Bella Vista and Bud Barnhart of Lanagan, Mo.
