Church lends a hand

— Members of Twelve Corners Baptist Church traveled to Joplin Friday, May 27, to aid in the relief effort. The church members helped provide nearly 1,500 meals to volunteers and victims of the recent tornado. Several of the members drove through the affected area handing out meals door to door.

The volunteers were met by grateful people who have lost nearly everything in the devastation and encountered a woman with two young children digging through the rubble that was once her home. Many of the victims were moved to tears by the generosity of the volunteers.

“I’ve heard all my life that you have to see it to believe it.

That’s a generic thing said all the time, but this is truly that way. The extent of the devastation is beyond comprehension. They definitely need any help anyone can give them,” pastor Rick Booyer said.

Members of the Twelve Corners team included: pastor Rick Booyer, Carisa Booyer, Rachael Booyer, Chris Lewis, Reldon Bray, Justin Cummings, Todd Crowder, Kim Easter and Bob Campbell.

According to pastor Booyer, the church will send another team later this week to help in the clean up efforts.
