Cecil B. Lane

Cecil B. Lane, 91, of Lowell, formerly of Hot Springs, died Sunday, July 17, at the Circle of Life Hospice Care in Springdale. He was was born in Felsenthal, Ark., on Dec. 5, 1919, to Samuel R.

and Maybelle (Beck) Lane.

On March 12, 1943, he married Betty Cathey in Yuma, Ariz. They were married for over 68 years before his death. He served his country in the U.S.

Army during World War II and for many years worked for the Civil Service as an UNIVAC instructor at Blytheville and Jacksonville Air Force bases.

He enjoyed gardening, boating and fishing, tinkering with things, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife Betty J. (Cathey) Lane of the home; one son, James B. Lane and his wife Sue of Lowell; two brothers, Sam Lane and his wife Lucille of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jack Lane of Russellville;

one sister, Bea Timmerman of Russellville; two grandchildren, Tim Lane and hiswife, Catherine, of Garfield, and Carla Key of Lowell;

four great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Bryant, Cara and Brittany; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. before services Wednesday.

Services for Cecil B. Lane will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at First Baptist Church of Lowell with pastor Gary E. Thomas officiating.

There will be a private interment at the Forest Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark.

Donald Ray Phillips

Donald Ray Philips, 72, died on July 9, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville. He was born June 19, 1939, in Ottowa County, Okla., to John and Gladys Phillips.

He was a longtime resident of Pea Ridge.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Phillips; one daughter, Shelly Webb and her husband, Mike, of Pea Ridge; two grandsons, Colter and Corey Webb, both of Pea Ridge; many nieces and nephews; and a great number of friends.

There will be a graveside service scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville.

Ruth Lorene Pool

Ruth Lorene Pool, 83, of Rogers died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Concordia Nursing and Rehab in Bella Vista. She was born Nov.

3, 1928, in Rogers, to Julius RobertBest and Maggie Victoria Hendrix Best.

She worked in office and clerical for over 30 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rogers.

She was preceded indeath by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Pool of Rogers, whom she married April 23, 1949; one daughter, Judy Epps of Rogers;

two sisters, Betty Cunningham and her husband, Bill, and Connie Best, all of Rogers; three granddaughters, Ronna McAllister and her husband, Jeremy, of Pea Ridge, Genena Carr and her husband, Stephen, of Garfield, and Amanda Sheppard of Rogers; and 10 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Maggie and Clinton McAllister, Austin, Heather, Jessica and Tyler Carr, and Samuel, Larry and Shelby Sheppard.

Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, in Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge.

Burial was in Oakley Chapel Cemetery in Rogers.

Carl ‘Buzz’ M. Sawyer

Carl “Buzz” M. Sawyer, 79, of Gravette died Saturday, July 16, at Mercy Medical Center, Rogers. He was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Lee Creek, Ark., to Claude and Ivy (Funk) Sawyer.

He was raised and educated in Gravette. He served in the U.S. Army and married Mary Burnett on Nov. 6, 1953, in Pineville, Mo. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed coffee around the “table of knowledge” at the Austin Drug Store.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary M.

Sawyer of the home; four sons, Ronnie Sawyer and wife, Brenda, of Summerville, S.C., Larry Sawyer and wife, Debbie, of Tulsa, Okla., Steve Sawyer of Rogers and Randy Sawyer and wife, Amelia, of Pea Ridge; one daughter, Carla Kara and husband, Jerry, of Gravette; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his adopted family, Rick Sonnenberg and wife, Marcella, and Ken Austin and family.

Visitation was July 18, 2011, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home.

Services were Tuesday, July 19, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with brother Dan Fagala offciating.

Burial followed at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hiwasse.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ginny Lyn Smith

Ginny Lyn Smith, 64, of Pea Ridge, died Sunday, July17, at her home. She was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Clarinda, Iowa, to Donald Barton Guthrie and Virginia Lee Beasley Guthrie.

She was a lab tech for Small Stock Industries.

Survivors include a son, Todd Smith and his wife, Amy, of Rogers; a daughter, Lisa Coleman and her husband, Scott, of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Lindsley Guthrie and his wife, Alesia, of Pea Ridge; and six grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
