Jones brothers arrested for theft

— An arrest Thursday night netted the second of two brothers wanted for theft of property from a residence on Asboth Street.

It came as the result of a three-month investigation into theft of items valued at nearly $4,000.

Brandon Bill Jones, 30, of Bentonville, was arrested without incident at his residence at an apartment complex in Bentonville by Pea Ridge police with assistance from Bentonville police shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He is being held in the Benton County Jail on no bond on a felony parole violation.

His brother, Christopher Jones, 26, was arrested April 7 on theft of property charges. He was incarcerated in Benton County Jail from April 7-22. Jail records show he was released to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

According to police, he is out on parole.

On April 4, Rebecca Harris reported several items missing from her residence on Asboth Street. She said she had been out of town and had someone staying in the house. When she returned, she noticed her husband’s safe in a different position than it had been. Upon investigation, she noticed items missing, according to the police report.

Items missing include a laptop computer, digital cameras and tools, as well as family heirlooms.

According to police, apparently the woman who was staying at the house met the two men at a bar.

After she left, they called her and asked if they could come over, so they followed her home and stayed the remainder of the evening.

Police, upon confirming the identity of the men, received warrants from the Prosecutor’s Office for the arrest of both men. Both were on parole. Brandon Jones had not reported to his parole officer for several months, according to the police report.

Police said Brandon Jones had eluded arrest despite repeated attempts to find him. They credited cooperative efforts from other agencies and informants in his recent capture.
