Post Office broken into

The Garfield and Gateway post offices were broken into over the Fourth of July holiday, according to a Benton County Sheriff’s Office report.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m.

Tuesday, July 5, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of the break-ins.

The blue collection mail box had been broken, according to the report.

According to deputies, the Gateway and Seligman, Mo., post offices were also broken into the same way.

Mail was taken as was a tub used to collect the mail.

The plastic tub from the Gateway post office was found on the side of the road in Missouri, according to the report, and returned to the Gateway post master.

The incidents are under investigation.
