Pea Ridge Optimist Club

The Pea Ridge Optimist Club met at 7 a.m. June 16 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church. President Sandy Lasater conducted the meeting. Nine members were present and one guest, Jeff Neil, president of Arvest Bank in Pea Ridge.

Discussion about the plans for the upcoming golf tournament to be held Aug.6 at Big Sugar. We are needing volunteers to help with the tournament to make it a big success.

John McGee, art teacherat the elementary school talked about the art competition the students participated in.

Discussion about the Pea Ridge Summer Fest to be held July 6-9 at the City Park.

Next meeting will be at 7 a.m. July 6 at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.

Granny’s Quilts of Love

Granny’s Quilts of Love met June 21, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Mary Margaret Webb conducted the meeting.

The total count of quilts made as of June is 12,005, pillows 3,171 and hats 1,629, all going to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Discussion regarding plans for our dinner and auction to be held Aug.

27, at the Pea Ridge High School cafeteria. The dinner is from 5-7 p.m. and the auction will be from 6:30p.m.-9 p.m. The dinner will be spaghetti, salad, roll, homemade dessert and drink. The price is $6 for adults and $4 for children and children 2 and under are free.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. July 19, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. This will be the last meeting before our dinner and auction so it is important for everyone to attend.
